Samy Aïtali and Fernando Nunes have designed the 2010 collection of seating made of Altuglas Acrylic PMMA for the French manufacturer Aïtali.
This table is made of either Pine or Mahogany wood, all coming from sustainably harvested forests. Aside from this, the “wooden rods” that are used as “string” in this table is made from recycled or unwanted wooden parts of legs and arms of chairs. Coming from a manufacturing firm with strict Quality Control, we have quite a few of these waste parts. I recycled them by processing it through a dowelling machine. Janus Chairs was created as one of six sculptural shelters at Kielder Water & Forest Park, northern Europe’s largest man made lake and England’s largest forest. The three one piece chairs (H2.3mxW1.2mxL2.3m, H2.7mxW1.8mxL3.1m, H3.3mx W2.4mxL3.8m) can be rotated toward a favourite view, into the sun, away from the wind or toward each other to form a family group.
