Regent's Place Pavilion in London by Carmody Groarke

The pavilion’s design has been the product of a architectural / engineering collaboration between Arup and Carmody Groarke. Holding the 3mm plate stainless steel canopy aloft 8m, extremely slender vertical elements stand without any cross-bracing, joined only at the top with a decorative structural lattice. Extensive testing of prototypes was undertaken on full size mock-ups at the Building Research Establishment as part of the design development...

360º kiosks by studio SKLIM

Designers Studio SKLIM lead by Beijing architect Kevin Lim had to fill up a narrow strip of land measuring approximately 35 m long and ranging in width from 7 to 13 metres. Six tensile membrane canopy structures at varying heights were already present. The challenge was to provide kiosks and to optimise the use of space without obstructing pedestrian circulation. Studio SKLIM reused existing canopy structures without sacrificing their structural integrity....

The 114 apartments at the Royal Racetrack are part of a larger development of the site surrounding the Racetrack, where Kinepolis and the Wellington golf clubhouse also created a multitude of activities. Thanks to its column structure, the building allows for flexible use in the future.
