Creative Time, the public arts institution, moved their offices to the 4th Street Cultural District. The challenges lay with the length of the space – how to distribute natural light and a sense of openness while providing privacy.
The cubicles have face panels at different heights to create a sense of variety and motion. Reflective materials maximize light. Translucent orange sliding walls hide service rooms and ‘Cones of Silence’ – a combination of light fixture and acoustic felt – provide a sense of enclosure. Modular desks were designed for the director’s office and conference room. By opening the sliding doors, the rooms can be combined for larger events.
